Job summary

The Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney in the Procurement, Construction & Real Estate Division. The primary role is drafting and reviewing contracts, including bid/proposal packages, to support LADWP operations in Los Angeles.

The attorney will handle procurement matters, contracting negotiations, and related advisory work, with opportunities to assist in litigation and project management aspects of procurement.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in all courts in California.
• At least five years of relevant legal experience, including negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to draft clear, concise pleadings and motions and argue persuasively before courts, administrative hearing boards, and other tribunals.
• Ability to deal effectively with public officials, departmental personnel, and members of the public.

Responsibilities

• Draft and review procurement contracts, bid packages, and related agreements.
• Provide advice on procurement and contracting issues for LADWP operations.
• Draft advisory opinions or memoranda on procurement matters and assist in related litigation.
