Job summary

City of Austin's Austin Financial Services is seeking a Budget Analyst to coordinate and develop the department's budget deliverables and provide financial information to management for planning, monitoring, and reporting. Essential duties include budget analysis, debt administration, CIP project support, and preparing financial reports.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of budgeting, accounting, internal controls, and excellent written and oral communication; telework may be available

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics and four years of related experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
• A five year accounting degree or CPA designation may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of operating or CIP budget for the department.
• Perform budget analysis and monitoring with variance reports and forecasts.
• Prepare financial analyses, reports, and summaries from multiple financial systems.
• Monitor debt service schedules and assist with CIP project tracking in financial systems.
• Develop fund summaries and maintain spreadsheet/database models for financial reporting.
