Job summary

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks an Associate or Full Professor to lead the Psychiatry Residency Program as Residency Program Director. This 1.0 FTE, non-tenure accruing role oversees accreditation, curriculum, resident recruitment, evaluation, supervision, and faculty development.

The RPD will allocate time for clinical care and research while mentoring residents and medical students.

Qualifications

• MD or DO required with eligibility for appointment at associate professor or higher.
• Wisconsin medical license or license eligibility.
• ABPN certification or eligibility.
• Minimum of three years educational and/or administrative experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all operations of the psychiatry residency program in accordance with ACGME requirements.
• Develop and implement program policies, curricula, evaluation systems, and resident schedules.
• Lead program accreditation activities (Self Study, APE, CQI).
• Manage program budget and resource allocation to support educational excellence.
• Design, implement, and refine a competency-based curriculum meeting ACGME requirements.
• Ensure high quality clinical, didactic, and simulation-based education across training sites.
• Promote innovative teaching methods and evidence-based psychiatric practice.
• Direct the resident recruitment and selection process (ERAS/NRMP).
• Oversee resident evaluation and Milestones reporting.
• Provide mentorship and career guidance for residents.
• Maintain a safe, supportive learning environment per ACGME duty hours standards.
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate program faculty.
• Advance scholarly activity, including research and educational innovation.
• Maintain an active clinical practice in psychiatry.
