Job summary

Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric services within a collaborative team. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, conducting psychosocial assessments, and coordinating care with physicians and mental health professionals.

A valid CA driver’s license is required. Ideal candidates will have Nurse Practitioner certification with psychiatric experience and be prepared to obtain an NFP certificate within six months.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner and three years of experience in a psychiatric setting.
• Certification as an Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner may substitute for psychiatric experience.
• Must obtain a Drug Device Furnishing (NFP) Certificate within six months of initial hire.
• Knowledge of psychiatric medications.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Take complete psychiatric and medical histories under supervision; perform physical examinations and counsel patients.
• Arrange for hospital admission and assist physician on rounds; facilitate referrals to facilities and resources.
• Order medications, participate in medication clinics, and collaborate with community physicians and mental health professionals.
• Maintain records and assist with treatment and therapy plans; support interdisciplinary team efforts.
