Ampa is a pioneering neurotechnology startup in San Diego developing brain stimulation devices to help eradicate depression. You will be part of a fast-growing lab, working hands-on on prototype testing, troubleshooting, and validation in a regulated development environment.

The Sr. Prototype Engineer role emphasizes bench testing, data-driven iteration, and clear documentation, with a path to lead testing efforts and contribute to scalable processes in a high-impact cardio-neurotech setting.

Qualifications

• 3 years of hands-on mechanical/hardware experience preferred.
• SolidWorks and mechanical design competency, ability to open/review/modify parts/assemblies, interpret 2D drawings, support tolerance updates, and create/modify basic fixture/prototype designs.
• Background in biomedical, mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, robotics, product development, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Prototype Development & Testing: Build, troubleshoot, and iteratively test prototypes with structured test procedures.
• Lab Execution: Hands-on technical owner for prototype testing, troubleshooting, lab execution, and follow-through on open actions.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze test data; maintain traceable test records.
