Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks a Senior Relay Technician to ensure safe operation of critical electrical infrastructure. You will lead testing, calibration, and commissioning of protective relays and distribution systems, while mentoring technicians and supporting OT communications and site reliability.

Qualifications include 7+ years in industrial electrical maintenance with at least 3 years on protective relays, plus strong knowledge of NFPA 70E and safety practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, incl 3+ years with protective relays and power distribution systems.
• Experience testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning protective relays, switchgear, breakers, transformers, and MV equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, relay logic diagrams, wiring diagrams and construction drawings.
• Experience using electrical test equipment such as relay test sets, multimeters, meggers, power quality analyzers, and related software.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices including LOTO, arc flash protection, NFPA 70E, and safe switching operations.
• Education: high school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or electrical license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for protective relays, electrical protection systems, and control schemes supporting critical facility infrastructure.
• Test, troubleshoot, calibrate, maintain, and commission protective relays and power distribution equipment.
• Support safe operation of MV and LV distribution by responding to faults and abnormal conditions.
• Analyze relay event data and alarms to identify root causes and improve reliability.
• Develop and update preventive maintenance procedures and switching procedures in line with NFPA 70B and site standards.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to maintenance technicians and contractors during commissioning and energization activities.
