Job summary

ABB is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to lead engineering activities for substation protection & control systems. You will serve as the design authority, ensuring cost‑effective and standards‑compliant designs while coordinating with project teams.

This is a full‑remote role with preference for candidates in Northern California. You will develop documentation, support retrofit designs, and contribute to safety and training initiatives across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required; Master's Degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in protection & control projects for utility customers.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical one-lines, schematics, and instruction manuals.
• PE License in California is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering design activities for protection & control systems, including planning and execution.
• Develop engineering documentation and analyses to support designs (schematics, layouts, BOMs).
• Manage project materials and provide ongoing communication to project teams and customers.
• Ensure safety, standards compliance, and training to maintain technical proficiency.
