Job summary

THE UNITED ILLUMINATING COMPANY in Orange, CT seeks a Senior Engineer – Protection & Control to design and configure protection and control subsystems for the electric delivery network. You will lead relay settings, fault analyses, and NERC compliance efforts, interfacing with project teams and external contractors.

Applicants should have a B.S. in electrical engineering with 5+ years in protection and control, and PE eligibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility for certification.
Experience with protection systems design and coordination; familiarity with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Perform relay settings design and relay coordination analysis for protection systems in transmission and substation projects.
Lead engineering contractors and consultants on protection system settings for capital projects.
Analyze disturbance event operations to ensure protection schemes perform reliably.
Develop fault analysis reports for management with recommended corrective actions.
Lead NERC compliance programs and serve as SME during audits.
Collaborate with project teams to resolve protection/control issues.
Represent AVANGRID on regional and national committees.
