Job summary

Telex, LLC seeks a Senior Protection and Control Technician to lead relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting in our substation projects. You will perform end-to-end testing with Omicron, Doble, RTS tools and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-quality results.

Travel and on-site work are required, and mentorship for junior technicians is expected. Ideal candidates have 1–5 years of field experience, strong three-phase power system knowledge, and proficiency with test

Qualifications

• 1-5 years field experience in relay testing, calibration, or substation commissioning without direct supervision.
• Strong understanding of three-phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Proficiency with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, and related test equipment.
• Skilled in RTS, Test Universe, Protection Suite, and Accelerator.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA systems, and automation systems.
• Conduct end-to-end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
• Execute functional and scheme testing including reclosing, breaker failure, logic schemes, and communication-assisted protection.
• Troubleshoot protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and 8979 using Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
• Support development of standardized testing procedures.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure reliable project outcomes.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians when needed.
