Job summary

Telex LLC is seeking a Senior Protection and Control Technician to support protective relaying testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for substation projects. The role involves hands-on testing, installation, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure reliable outcomes.

The ideal candidate has 1–5 years of field experience, strong knowledge of three‑phase power systems, and hands-on experience with Omicron, Doble, RTS, and related tools.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years field experience in relay testing, calibration, or substation commissioning.
• Solid understanding of three‑phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Proficiency with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, and related test equipment.
• Skilled in RTS, Test Universe, Protection Suite and Accelerator.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA systems, and automation systems.
• Conduct end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
• Execute functional and scheme testing including reclosing, breaker failure, logic schemes, and communication‑assisted protection.
• Troubleshoot protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and 8979 using Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
• Support development of standardized testing procedures.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure reliable project outcomes.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians when needed.
