Job summary

Venus Aerospace in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to lead the design, development, commissioning and operation of propulsion test facilities, owning the complete test lifecycle from high-pressure fluid and cryogenic systems to automated test stands. The role requires 8+ years of engineering experience, 5+ years in engine testing or complex test systems, and strong CAD/DAQ capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of engineering experience with at least 5 years supporting engine testing or complex mechanical test systems.
• Experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting high-pressure fluid systems, instrumentation, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and automated test systems.
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrate a positive, collaborative attitude while mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete test lifecycle—from architecting high-pressure fluid, pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic systems to developing automated test stands.
• Develop test plans and hazard analyses and execute critical development and qualification campaigns.
• Analyze high-value test data, drive root-cause investigations, and implement innovative safety improvements.
• Mentor the next generation of engineers and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, operations, propulsion and other teams.
