Job summary

Howard University’s Research Development and Innovation (RDI) team seeks a Senior Proposal and Research Communications Writer to translate Howard’s research strengths into compelling, funder-responsive narratives.

The role provides high-level writing, editing, and narrative development across large-scale proposals, supports faculty engagement, and enhances institutional visibility with sponsors and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, public policy, education, science writing, research administration, or a related field.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing, proposal development, research communications, or related work.
• Experience as lead writer, editor, or senior contributor on complex multi-investigator proposals for federal agencies or foundations.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level narrative strategy, writing, and editing for competitive research proposals, including large-scale, multi-investigator submissions.
• Develop clear and compelling communications highlighting Howard University’s research strengths and impact for diverse audiences.
• Contribute to workshops and develop content infrastructure to improve proposal writing and research communications.
