Job summary

SWE Homes is seeking a Senior Property Tax Protest Specialist to lead an internal team and maximize tax savings for the company and its customers. You will review assessments, prepare evidence for protests, and maintain relationships with county appraisal districts—Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee experience is valued.

The role involves guiding case strategy, teaching best practices to new joiners, and coordinating with legal and acquisition teams to ensure timely protest filings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in property tax management.
• Strong knowledge of property valuation and tax protests.
• Familiarity with HCAD and appraisal districts.
• Advanced Excel and math skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Typing speed of 45 WPM or higher.
• Detail-oriented with strong research and negotiation.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review property tax assessments and tax bills, preparing appeals when necessary or advised.
• Reviewing prior year tax protest results and identifying areas of improvement.
• Establish a protest process fit for SWE Homes’ diverse portfolio.
• Utilize previous experience and relationships to teach the protest process to new joiners.
• Oversee and respond to property tax notices and requests from various taxing authorities.
• Assist in the preparation for protest hearings by conducting research and compiling property documentation.
