Job summary

SWE Homes is seeking a Property Tax Protest Analyst to join our growing Texas portfolio. You will analyze property valuations, coordinate appeals, and liaise with local taxing authorities to secure favorable outcomes for SWE and its customers.

The role requires 4 years in property valuation, strong MS Office skills, and a track record of timely follow-ups. This position supports cross-functional teams including loan servicing, legal, and acquisitions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have 4 years’ experience of property valuation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be able to type 45wpm.
• Experience with Chain of Title and Title Issues.
• Proactively upholds follow-up procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of associates to review property tax assessments and identify appeal opportunities.
• Prepare and submit property tax appeals based on research, analysis, and strategy.
• Manage communications and notices from a variety of taxing authorities.
• Track protest deadlines, hearing dates, settlements, final values, and estimated tax savings.
• Represent the company in property tax protest hearings, as assigned.
• Support the Property Tax Supervisor with portfolio analysis, reporting, and special projects.

In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that plays a crucial role in managing, analyzing, and appealing property tax assessments across Texas and beyond for both SWE and its customers.Key Responsibilities:Collaborating with a team of associates to review property tax assessments and identify appeal opportunitiesPreparing and submitting property tax appeals based on research, analysis, and strategyManaging communications and notices from a variety of taxing authoritiesTrack protest deadlines, hearing dates, settlements, final values, and estimated tax savings.Staying up to date on property tax laws and policy changes across jurisdictionsHandling online notices of property assessments and valuesNegotiating value settlements with county appraisers and out-of-state assessorsCreating and maintaining files for newly acquired propertiesConducting cost-benefit analyses to assess the impact of assessed valuesVerifying ownership and occupancy status with local appraisal districts (e.g., HCAD)Acting as a key liaison between our team and county/taxing officialsOrganizing support files and documentation, and leading special projects as assignedRepresent the company in property tax protest hearings, as assigned.Support the Property Tax Supervisor with portfolio analysis, reporting, and special projects.Assist in the processing of property tax bills when receivedCross department collaboration with our loan servicing, legal, acquisition, and construction teams as well as various property inspectors.Perform other property tax-related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Must have 4 years’ experience of related work of property valuation.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Must be able to type 45wpmExperience with Chain of Title and Title Issues.Proactively upholds follow-up procedures.
