Job summary

Starr Insurance Companies is seeking a Property Specialist in the Property group to support our technical lines underwriting team in a field-based role. This western United States position reports to the Los Angeles office, handling risk evaluation, loss estimates, and site inspections.

Responsibilities include loss control visits, engineering fee proposals, client meetings, and inspection oversight. An engineering degree is preferred, and 7–10+ years in related fields is highly desired.

Qualifications

• Experience in loss control visits for insurance, consulting, or brokerage.
• Experience servicing technical occupancies such as Power Generation, O&P, Chemical plants, Process industries, Warehouses, etc.
• 7–10+ years of experience or equivalent preferred.
• Having an engineering degree is preferred (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Site property loss control visits, fire protection equipment testing, phone surveys, and desk review of prospective and current clients for risk evaluation and loss potentials.
• Work closely with underwriting team and management in areas of risk selection and loss estimates.
• Account management including client meetings, report and recommendation transmittal, and oversight of account risk improvements and inspection schedule as needed.
• Develop engineering fee proposals and presentations as needed.
• Plan review, impairment handling, client questions, and special visits as needed.
• Maintain up to date inspection record database.
