Job summary

Harrington Group, Inc. (HGI) is seeking a Senior Property Loss Control Engineer/Consultant to lead client engagements from pre-construction to commissioning for large facilities. This remote, U.S.-based role emphasizes expert risk evaluation, mentoring, and collaboration with insurers.

You will review complex submittals, develop cost-effective protection strategies, and mentor junior engineers, while traveling up to 25% to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Fire Protection, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, etc.).
• 8+ years of relevant experience in PLC/insurance property risk context.
• PE license preferred; title depends on licensure (Senior Property Loss Control Engineer with PE).
• U.S. citizen or valid work visa required.
• Strong technical foundation with precision and client-focused execution.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to client personnel from site-level staff through corporate risk management leadership.
• Provide technical leadership on client engagements and independently manage client communications, priorities, and expectations.
• Provide independent assessments of insurer property loss control reports, recommendations, and Loss Expectancies (LEs).
• Advise on recommendation priority based on frequency, severity, and risk-reduction ROI.
• Develop alternative risk-reduction solutions with anticipated implementation costs, negotiating acceptance with insurers and stakeholders.
• Lead complex site surveys, fire hazard analyses, water supply evaluations, and client training on human element programs.
• Mentor less experienced PLC engineers and contribute to training programs.
• Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
