Job description

Position Summary

The Senior Property Insurance Broker leads the placement of the largest and most complex property programs in the practice, serving as the primary market-facing technical authority. Beyond executing shared and layered placements across global markets, this role sets program strategy, drives direct-market relationships, mentors junior brokers and analysts, and safeguards the firm's technical quality and E&O standards. The Senior Broker is instrumental in expanding market access, elevating submission quality, and coaching property brokers and other account team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strategy, structure, and placement for the practice’s largest and most complex property accounts, including multi-layer, quota-share, and global shared programs.
  • Serve as senior market-facing negotiator across US domestic, London (Lloyd’s), Bermuda, E&S / wholesale, and reinsurance markets, securing capacity and preferred terms.
  • Design layered / excess towers and difference-in-conditions structures; reconcile carrier and broker (manuscript) forms to ensure concurrency and eliminate coverage gaps.
  • Direct catastrophe modeling oversight and interpretation (RMS / Moody’s and AIR / Verisk), translating output into limit and pricing recommendations for clients and account teams.
  • Own revenue accountability for a book of large accounts and support new-business pursuits, RFP responses, and proof-of-concept placements.
  • Champion the hybrid wholesale-to-direct placement strategy by cultivating direct relationships with carriers, syndicates, and Bermuda markets.
  • Mentor, coach, and technically review the work of Property Brokers and Analysts – including submissions, program options, and binders – to build bench strength and consistency.
  • Establish and enforce technical standards, workflow, and E&O controls (policy checking, non-concurrency review, valuation discipline).
  • Partner with risk control, analytics, and claims to deliver differentiated client outcomes and support renewals with credible risk-improvement narratives.
  • Represent IMA with underwriters, industry groups, and clients as a senior technical spokesperson for the Property Practice.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of commercial property brokerage or market-facing experience, with a track record on large, complex accounts.
  • Actively P&C license required.
  • Deep experience structuring and placing large shared and layered property programs.
  • Advanced command of carrier and broker policy forms and manuscript wording, including drafting and negotiating bespoke terms.
  • Established, direct relationships across US, London, Bermuda, and E&S markets, plus reinsurance placement experience.
  • Advanced proficiency interpreting RMS and AIR catastrophe modeling to drive program design and pricing.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior associates and reviewing technical work product.
  • Experience contributing to practice growth strategy, hiring, and talent development.
Core Competencies
  • Strategic program design and market leadership.
  • Advanced negotiation and capacity management across global markets.
  • Coaching, mentorship, and technical quality assurance.
  • Executive-level communication and client trust-building.
  • Ownership mindset consistent with IMA’s employee-owned, ‘One IMA’ culture.

The anticipated posting timeline for this opportunity is 09/04/2026-10/04/2026.
