Job summary

Sompo is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist for the North America First Party Property Claims team. This role focuses on adjusting exposure analyses for complex commercial property exposures and overseeing first-party property claims, including Middle Market and Excess & Surplus lines.

The position supports multiple US offices, including Boston, Alpharetta, Charlotte, Dallas, Purchase, NYC, Morristown, and more, with collaboration and long-term career development in mind.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant claims experience.
• Direct experience handling Commercial Property and E&S Property claims, including quota-share, shared/layered, and excess claims.
• Preference for CPCU designation.
• Proven ability to manage high-volume workflows, including during catastrophic events.
• Strong collaboration across departments such as Underwriting and Actuarial.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, written, organizational, and computer skills; Guidewire, Genius, or ImageRight a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle Commercial Property claim exposures for North American Property business units, including related systems and processes.
• Evaluate exposures and make claim decisions on first-party property claims, with guidance on complex coverage, liability, and damages issues.
• Manage loss adjustment expense and ensure timely, accurate claim reporting, including narratives and financial calculations.
• Report exposures, reserves, trends, and claim metrics to Underwriting, Senior Management, Reinsurers, and internal stakeholders.
• Partner with Actuary, Cede Re, Underwriting, Operations, Finance, and others to support reporting and business needs.
• Maintain compliance with best practices, build relationships with brokers/agents, and support travel as needed.
