Job summary

Hilcorp Energy Company in Houston seeks an experienced accounting leader to oversee the Property Accounting function, drive GAAP-compliant financial reporting, and provide clear technical accounting guidance to the organization.

You will lead a high-performing team through monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, coordinate with FP&A, Operations, and IT, implement process improvements, and ensure accurate asset accounting, depreciation, and reporting for acquisitions and divestitures.

Qualifications

• Six or more years in oil & gas Property Accounting, public accounting preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and ability to apply policies to complex transactions.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to coach, motivate, and develop staff.
• Deep SAP experience with asset accounting, reporting, and processes.
• Experience leading acquisitions/divestitures, system implementations, or major projects.

Responsibilities

• Leads accounting activities supporting assets and financial reporting, including capital projects and assets.
• Owns monthly, quarterly, and annual close; ensures accuracy and timeliness.
• Provides technical accounting leadership on GAAP matters and policy interpretation.
• Evaluates high-impact transactions and coordinates with stakeholders for recommendations.
• Serves as SAP/system resource; partners with IT on enhancements and solutions.
