Job summary

hec is seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee the Property Accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong controls. The Manager will guide the team on technical accounting matters and coordinate with Accounting, Operations, and other functions to support sound business decisions.

Qualifications

• Six+ years of progressive accounting experience in energy/oil and gas industry preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and ability to apply policy to complex transactions.
• Experience interpreting accounting policies and communicating conclusions clearly.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Expertise with SAP and asset accounting systems and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Leads and oversees accounting activities supporting assets and financial reporting (capital projects, depreciation, asset retirement obligations, reserves, inventory, acquisitions/divestitures).
• Owns monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, prioritizes work, reviews entries, and ensures accuracy and timeliness.
• Provides technical accounting leadership on complex matters and interprets GAAP for the organization.
• Evaluates high-impact transactions, coordinating with stakeholders and providing management recommendations.
• Serves as SAP and systems resource, partnering with IT on enhancements and process improvements.
• Leads special projects and strategic initiatives requiring accounting expertise across functions.
• Partners with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, A&D, Reserves, IT, Legal, and others to understand business activity and impacts.
