Job summary

COPT Defense Properties is seeking a Portfolio Controller to ensure GAAP-compliant financial integrity for a property portfolio and to lead the Operations Accounting teams. You will review NOI, budgets and forecasts, oversee lease accounting, and coordinate with regional leaders to resolve issues.

Responsibilities include strong internal controls, audit support, and collaboration with asset management, legal and finance to drive accurate reporting and forecasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; MBA preferred.
• CPA certification required.
• 8 years of related accounting experience; property accounting a plus.
• 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong supervisory, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integrity of financial information for a portfolio of properties and GAAP compliance.
• Review NOI, budgets, forecasts, and lease accounting details.
• Lead internal controls and support SOX 404 requirements.
• Prepare and review reporting for property management and executives.
• Develop staff and manage performance within accounting teams.
• Coordinate audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Collaborate with other departments on transactions and financings.
