Job summary

Wiss is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to oversee financial accounting and reporting for commercial real estate properties. This onsite role in Somerset County, NJ requires GAAP proficiency, strong reporting skills, and collaboration with property teams.

Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, GL maintenance, lease and CAM accounting, budgets, forecasts, and audits. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of real estate accounting experience and Yardi proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in real estate or property accounting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and property-level accounting processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and real estate accounting software; Yardi preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple properties and meet deadlines.
• Highly detail-oriented with accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
• Maintain the general ledger, reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
• Record and analyze property-level income and expenses, including rent and CAM.
• Manage monthly and yearly close activities with accruals and prepaid items.
• Maintain lease data, review rent rolls, and record lease-related transactions.
• Prepare and review CAM reconciliations and respond to tenant inquiries.
• Assist with property budgets and forecasts; explain variances.
• Coordinate external audits and assist with property tax reporting.
• Support acquisitions, dispositions, and related financial reporting.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
