Job summary

Genuine Search Group is assisting a highly reputable commercial real estate firm in New Jersey seeking a Property Accountant to join a growth-focused team. The role offers mentorship and broad exposure to the real estate business, with a hybrid schedule including work-from-home on Fridays.

You will manage accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, prepare monthly statements and variance analyses, and support budgets and forecasts while coordinating depreciation, tenant improvements,

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experience in real estate accounting or auditing.
• Public accounting and/or commercial real estate experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with property management software such as Yardi or MRI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle accounting duties for a portfolio of commercial properties.
• Prepare monthly income statements and variance reports.
• Prepare workpapers and maintain depreciation and amortization schedules.
• Track tenant improvements and capital expenditures.
• Prepare monthly accruals and assist with budgets and forecasts.
• Review and code tenant work orders and sales tax considerations.
• Monitor construction activity and capital improvements.
• Track monthly utility expenses.

Our client, a highly reputable commercial real estate firm in NJ, is seeking a strong Property Accountant. This person will work closely with a great mentor and have significant opportunity to grow as well as gain wide exposure to the real estate business.

Hybrid: WFH on Fridays

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for accounting duties related to a portfolio of commercial properties
• Preparation of monthly income statements and variance reports
• Preparation of workpapers
• Maintain depreciation and amortization schedules as well as tenant improvements
• Prepare monthly accruals
• Obtain draw request information
• Prepare budget and forecasts
• Review tenant workorders for coding and for sales tax
• Review and account for construction activity and capital improvements
• Track monthly utility expense

Requirements:

• Approximately 1-5 years of experience in real estate audit or accounting
• Public accounting and/or commercial real estate experience is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel
• Experience with property management software such as Yardi or MRI is preferred
