Job summary

Genuine Search Group is seeking a Senior Property Accountant for a real estate investment client with a substantial NYC portfolio. You will oversee accounting for commercial properties, prepare accruals, analyze GL activity, and document variances for management review.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting and experience in real estate or public accounting, with familiarity in Yardi or MRI. Collaboration with asset managers and lenders will shape the annual budget process and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• Experience in public accounting or private real estate industry preferred.
• Knowledge of Yardi or MRI software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting duties for a portfolio of commercial properties in NYC.
• Prepare accrual financials for the assigned portfolio.
• Analyze the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and maintain workpapers monthly.
• Review results of operations and provide explanations of variances.
• Review invoices for correct account coding and expense allocations.
• Prepare reconciliations of cash accounts, reserves, and escrows.
• Monitor cash balances and request capital funding as needed.
• Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers.
• Assist in resolving tenant billing inquiries with AR and legal teams.
• Respond to lender inquiries and support debt refinances or sales.
• Prepare annual budget and reforecast and assist with audits and tax returns.

Our client, a real estate investment firm with a large portfolio of commercial and multifamily properties, is seeking a strong Senior Property Accountant. The position offers a collaborative, supportive culture and significant opportunity for growth.

Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee accounting duties for a portfolio of commercial properties in NYC
• Prepare accrual financials for assigned portfolio
• Analyze the general ledger for each property, prepare journal entries, calculate accruals and adjustments and maintain detailed workpaper files on a monthly basis
• Review results of operations and provide detailed explanations of variances
• Review invoices to ensure correct account coding and expense allocations
• Responsible for Common Area Maintenance (CAM)
• Prepare reconciliations of all cash accounts, reserves and escrows
• Monitor cash balances and request capital funding, as needed
• Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers
• Assist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with accounts receivable and legal departments
• Respond to lender inquiries, as needed
• Compile financial information for analysts during debt refinances and/or sales of properties
• Prepare annual budget and reforecast
• Serve as the main contact for annual audits and tax return preparation

Requirements Include:
