About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join our team in one of our offices in Chicago, IL, or Boca Raton, FL. This is a hybrid rolerequiring some days in office.

This position is responsible for the full-cycle accounting of a portfolio of multifamily properties. You will be instrumental in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and supporting operations and asset management with timely insights. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and has a proactive mindset toward continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and variance reports for internal stakeholders
• Review and code invoices, monitor accounts payable/receivable activity, and manage bank reconciliations
• Track capital expenditures and coordinate with operations and asset management to ensure proper cost allocations
• Collaborate with property managers to ensure accurate rent roll data and tenant ledger activity
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP standards, and company accounting policies
• Coordinate with external accountants or auditors as needed
• Support onboarding and integration of newly acquired assets
• Help implement and maintain property management systems and software integrations

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably multifamily real estate
• CPA designation preferred, but not required
• Strong proficiency with Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data modeling)
• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks and AppFolio Plus
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting and multi-family real estate financial reporting
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset
• Base salary at $80,000 – $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience
