Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Propellant Engineer to lead high-impact defense engineering initiatives focused on propellant manufacturing and energetic material processes. You will mentor engineers, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and oversee complex production efforts in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with extensive experience and the ability to obtain at least an Interim U.S.

Responsibilities

• Develop process designs, flow diagrams, SOPs, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical oversight and troubleshoot process issues.
• Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and program managers.
• Participate in client-facing meetings to present updates and technical insights.
• Train and mentor junior engineers.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Support facility and process design for new manufacturing capabilities.
• Contribute to test plans and proof-of-concept validations.

This position is willing to pay around $120,000-$140,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Propellant Engineer for a top defense engineering client. This candidate will lead high-impact projects supporting national defense initiatives, focusing on propellant manufacturing and energetic material processes. They will play a key role in overseeing complex production efforts, developing process designs, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including government agencies and vendors. This individual will also mentor junior engineers, ensure safety and compliance standards, and drive technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering + 8–10 years of experience (or Master’s + 6–8 years)
• Proven experience as a Propellant Engineer or closely related field
• Ability to obtain at least an Interim U.S. Secret clearance
• Strong experience with energetic materials (synthesis, monitoring, scaling)
• Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder engineering projects (government, contractors, vendors)
• Process safety and material handling expertise with regulatory compliance
• Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring engineering teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in high-pressure, dynamic environments
• Ability to pass physical and drug screening
• Experience specifically with cast propellant decision-making
• Prior work at or with federal defense clients or DoD programs
• Experience with Energetics Manufacturing/Comprehensive Facility projects (ECMP)
• Background in process/facility design for manufacturing environments
• Experience creating SOPs, QPPs, and ACPs
