Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Surveyor to join our Surveying team in Indianapolis. The role focuses on delivering accurate boundary surveys, plat development, and topographic design while maintaining strict quality control from field to office.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of surveying experience, proficiency in Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center, and a strong grasp of boundary computations and data techniques.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent technical experience preferred.
  • 5+ years surveying experience required.
  • SIT license preferred; CST preferred.
  • Proficient in Civil 3D and TBC (Trimble Business Center).
  • Knowledge of surveying instruments, computations, and geometry.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate title boundaries, plats, topographic design surveys, and control surveys.
  • Perform Quality Control review on reports, plans, cost estimates, and other documents.
  • Coordinate and manage construction layout within area of specialization.
  • Supervise staff and oversee budgets/timelines for project tasks.
  • Ensure client approval for out-of-scope work and revisions.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Surveyor to join our Surveying team in Indianapolis!

Colliers Engineering & Design's survey professionals have the expertise to achieve highly accurate results while maintaining quality control over data collected, from field to office, and precision of the final client deliverables. Whether the project calls for administering conventional surveying methods, cutting-edge geospatial scanning techniques or a combination of both, our professionally licensed land surveyors, highly-trained office technicians and field crews work seamlessly together to provide the most responsive and consistent professional survey services available. Implementing the right approach for each project is what makes the difference and ensures our clients they are receiving the most accurate surveying and measurement services.

Responsibilities

Completion of project tasks to meet established requirements with minimal direction. Responsible for the preparation and completion of accurate title boundaries, plats, topographic design surveys, control surveys, HDS laser scanning and various construction related surveys. May coordinate and, in some cases, manage the preparation of construction layout within area of specialization.

  • Compile survey cost estimate and scope of services.
  • Analyze and prepare complete boundary survey by compiling record data and providing sound analysis and reason for accurate property line location.
  • Perform Quality Control review on reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and other contract documents prepared by others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide accurate computation for the layout of subdivisions, roads and lots as well as buildings and utilities.
  • Provide assistance to staff in the preparation of reports/findings, plans, and other contract documents.
  • Organize and coordinate the work of field and office staff required to complete design, field and/or other tasks on more complex projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of project/task work plans.
  • Assist with the safety planning and preparation for projects.
  • Provide direction to staff to complete project objectives.
  • Monitor the work efforts of assigned staff including sub-consultants and/or contractors, overseeing budgets.
  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy client.
  • Ensure that all scope revisions affecting the project schedule and/or budget are discussed with the client. Ensure that all out-of-scope work and associated fees are approved by the client prior to performing the services.
  • May supervise assignments given to Survey Technician(s).
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED is required; Associate degree or equivalent technical experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years of related surveying experience required.
  • SIT license preferred. CST preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D, TBC (Trimble Business Center).
  • Proficient various data techniques and coding systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of various surveying instruments, techniques, and computations.
  • Advanced understanding of angular and linear measurement systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of trigonometry and geometry.
  • Valid drivers' license required and ability to operate a motor vehicle. MVR will be checked and monitored.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Requires a pre-employment drug screen.
