Job summary

EU Design Consulting, a boutique firm, seeks a Senior Project Structural Engineer to lead structural/geo-structural design for tunnels and underground projects. The role involves applying engineering principles, performing calculations, and producing technical reports for transportation and water/wastewater projects.

The candidate must have a Bachelor's in civil engineering with a structural concentration, 10+ years of underground design experience, and the ability to obtain DC licensure within

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with structural concentration; MS preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of underground structure design experience.
• PE license with DC reciprocity opportunity within 6 months of hire.
• Familiarity with structural/geotechnical software packages.
• Knowledge of ACI-318, ACI-350, and AISC 360 standards.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise on underground projects (tunnels, underground structures, temporary supports).
• Apply engineering principles and perform calculations for tunnels, deep shafts, earth retaining structures.
• Prepare technical reports, tables, figures, and final report production.
• Prepare details and markup drawings; coordinate with CAD designers and other engineers.
• Review contractor submittals and shop drawings.

Job description

EU Design Consulting, a locally owned boutique firm specializing in structural engineering, heavy civil construction and design/program/construction management for complex projects, is seeking a Senior Project Structural Engineer to provide expertise on underground projects of various sizes. The successful candidate will support our clients in the structural/geo-structural design of tunnels, underground structures and temporary support of excavation elements for transportation, water, or wastewater projects.

Apply engineering principles and perform structural engineering calculations for tunnels, deep shafts, and earth retaining structures.

Prepare technical reports including written reports, preparation of tables, figures, drawings and instruct staff in final report production.

Prepare details, mark-up drawings and plans, coordinate with CAD designers and other engineers in management of successful projects.

Review contractor submittals and shop drawings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with structural engineering concentration. Master of Science degree in structural or geotechnical engineering is preferred.

Minimum 10-years of experience in the design of underground structures,

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure with the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity in the District of Columbia within 6-months of hire.

Familiarity with structural and/or geotechnical software packages.

Familiarity with the latest versions of design standards including, but not limited to, ACI-318, ACI-350, AISC 360.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
