Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Scientist to manage a portfolio of sample analysis projects in a single operational area, with oversight for data review and final decisions. The role focuses on method development/validation and ensuring quality and regulatory alignment.

The candidate should have a relevant degree with significant experience, strong communication, and ability to work extended hours as needed, in a US-based facility with a safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5–7 years of relevant experience, or MS with 1–2 years, or PhD with no experience.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
• Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Computer skills commensurate with essential functions, including learning a validated system.
• Willingness to work extended hours including evenings/weekends/short notice.
• Authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage a portfolio of sample analysis projects within a single operational area.
• Execute review and approval of data with oversight for final scientific decisions.
• Assist with oversight of laboratory investigations, assay troubleshooting and quality observations.
• Write and prepare study plans/protocols/amendments with minimal oversight.
• Participate in Sponsor visits/tours with minimal oversight.
• Develop expertise in developing/validating quantitative/qualitative methods within one operational area.
