Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard’s Steel America division in Norfolk, VA seeks a Project Scheduler to support planning and production scheduling. You will create, update, and manage schedules to meet milestones and provide timely updates to stakeholders.

The role emphasizes collaboration with superintendents and project managers, tracking manpower, budget, and capacity, and generating graphs and standard reports for leadership. A strong background in scheduling software is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in planning and scheduling fabrication projects.
• Proficiency in MS Project and Primavera P6 is required.
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to identify and mitigate scheduling issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customers, coworkers, and vendors.
• Ability to self-prioritize, initiate projects, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and drawings.
• Reliable, steady work ethic and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers to develop and update job schedules, ensuring weekly progress tracking.
• Oversee all phases of the production schedule; develop, implement, and maintain tools to analyze schedule and capacity impacts and recommend adjustments.
• Track project progress and update key metrics such as manpower, budget, and performance.
• Resource-load production schedules based on bid data and build plans.
• Create master schedules to align operation sequences with production forecasts, customer specifications, footprint availability, and project deadlines.
• Maintain and update schedules for steel processing sites, equipment, facility footprint, and overall facility operations.
• Participate in craft planning and schedule reviews.
• Analyze production specifications and capacity data to determine manpower requirements.
• Develop standard and custom graphs and charts for reporting to Project Managers.
• Provide weekly schedule status reports to the Production Manager/Director.
• Assist with bid schedules for estimators as needed.
• Complete tasks independently and ensure factual, timely communication on project statuses.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
