Job summary

Geisinger seeks a seasoned Project Manager to support Data Core staff and leadership across data infrastructure, software engineering, data science and health care data analytics for research and related activities. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to set goals, timelines and budgets.

You will lead project teams, develop charters with milestones, manage scope and costs, and monitor progress while communicating with sponsors and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble project team, establish authority as project manager, and define the project scope, objectives, and budget.
  • Define requirements and deliverables using gathering techniques.
  • Develop project charters with milestones, deliverables and timelines.
  • Apply realistic labor and cost estimates to activities and tasks.
  • Collect status information and maintain visibility to overall project status.
  • Create and execute a communications plan including meetings and minutes.
  • Manage changes to scope, schedule and costs using verification techniques.
  • Report scope and schedule variances to leadership.
  • Identify and manage project risks with contingency plans.
  • Organize and track team tasks using PM standards and tools.
  • Facilitate document management and collaboration.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, sponsors, IT leadership and project team.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of projects with internal offices.
  • Ensure timely collection of labor hours related to the project.
  • Participate in vendor management including contracts, invoicing, and evaluations.

Job Summary

Supports Data Core staff and leadership with project management across a wide variety of technical areas including data infrastructure, software engineering, data science, and health care data analytics for research and related activities. Works collaboratively with project stakeholders both internal and external and functional managers to develop project goals and objectives, set project timeline, manage change, and control scope. Leads project team in collaboration with IT functional leadership to achieve project goals and objectives on time and within budget. Reports and appropriately escalates project progress, concerns, and issues to project stakeholders and leadership.

Job Duties
  • Assemble project team, establish authority as project manager, gain consensus, and develop and effectively communicate a clear understanding of the project scope, objectives, mandates, timeframe, budget and other project requirements.
  • Ensure project requirements, constraints, and assumptions are defined, documented, and effectively communicated in order to establish the project deliverables using requirements gathering techniques.
  • Work with project sponsors and stakeholders to develop project charters including milestones, deliverables and timelines.
  • Ensure realistic labor and cost estimates are applied to project activities and tasks in support of project plan and schedule development.
  • Collects status information regularly from the project team and maintains visibility to overall project status for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Establishes and executes on a communications plan meeting the needs of the project, including status meetings, status reports, change management, and issue escalation.
  • Creates agendas, ensures the capture of minutes, and conducts meetings in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule and costs using appropriate verification techniques so as to keep the project plan accurate and reflective of authorized project changes.
  • Maintains, documents, and communicates scope and schedule variances to plan to leadership as appropriate and per the communications plan.
  • Manage project risks through facilitating pro‑active risk identification and management and ensuring appropriate contingency plans are developed and implemented to minimize the probability of and impact to the project.
  • Organize and track project team tasks to assure proper application of project management standards, best practices, tools, and methodologies in project work.
  • Leverages approved supporting tools to facilitate document management, sharing, and collaboration.
  • Engages and effectively communicates in a timely fashion with stakeholders, including project sponsors, project team members, IT functional management, and leadership on all project tasks and deliverables, including requirements, scope, plans, staffing, budget, risks, issues, schedules, and status.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of projects through collaboration and coordination with internal regulatory offices.
  • Ensures timely and accurate collection of labor hours related to the project.
  • Participate in and provide guidance related to vendor management associated to assigned projects including but is not limited to, contract negotiations, invoicing issues lists and new product evaluations.
  • Contributes to employee goals and performance appraisals as related to assigned projects.
  • Manages and supports the functional manager in managing project budget and financing, including but not limited to planned and actual hours, planned and actual dollars, and variances.
  • Work is typically performed in an office or remote‑work environment.
  • Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
