Industria, Inc.

Location: Chicago Area / Project-Based

Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site / Field-Based

Compensation: Competitive; based on experience and qualifications

Lead Complex Federal and Public-Sector Construction Projects from Preconstruction Through Closeout

Industria, Inc. is a Chicago-area construction firm providing general contracting, design-build, civil, construction management, program and project management, and self-perform services. We partner closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver complex public and federal projects through planning, communication, hard work, and follow-through.

At Industria, every employee is integral to our success. We support balanced lives across work, family, and community while creating a positive environment that values both productivity and teamwork.

The Opportunity

Industria is seeking an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver construction projects safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with contract requirements.

This role owns project performance from inception through commissioning and handover and may supervise Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and other project-specific staff.

What You Will Do

  • Lead design and construction activities across civil, force protection, electrical, carpentry, framing, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, finishes, and other project scopes.
  • Manage assigned projects from preconstruction and mobilization through commissioning, closeout, and owner handover.
  • Own project budgets, cost tracking, labor and material expenses, change orders, RFIs, submittals, procurement, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules; identify slippage early and coordinate recovery, acceleration, or material-expediting plans.
  • Ensure work complies with contracts, plans, specifications, building codes, permitting requirements, inspections, and applicable federal or public-agency standards.
  • Review subcontractor, vendor, and teaming-partner bids for scope completeness, technical compliance, and commercial risk before award.
  • Partner with estimating to develop complete subcontract scopes and participate in proposal preparation and bid evaluation.
  • Establish project controls and oversee required documentation, including daily reports, quality and safety reports, RFIs, submittals, closeout records, and tracking logs.
  • Build productive relationships with clients, design partners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate diplomatically and effectively through project challenges.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical direction to project staff while maintaining accountability for project outcomes.

What You Bring

  • 7–10 years of progressive construction project management experience, including successful delivery of federal or public-agency projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, GSA, or comparable federal, state, or municipal owners.
  • Current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certification completed within the past five years.
  • OSHA 30-Hour and EM 385 40-Hour training completed within the past five years.
  • Current or obtainable OSHA HAZWOPER, NAVFAC ECATTS, and CPR/First Aid credentials, as required by assigned projects.
  • Proficiency with construction management platforms and standard business software.
  • Strong judgment, punctuality, diplomacy, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and work at remote project locations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel or temporarily relocate based on project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.

Benefits

  • Discretionary annual bonus based on individual performance and company profitability.
  • Two weeks (10 days) of paid vacation annually, earned in accordance with company policy.
  • Group health coverage after 30 days, with Industria paying 75% of employee coverage and 25% of family coverage.
  • 401(k) with a 100% company match on employee contributions up to 3%.
