Construction Superintendent

Industria, Inc.

Location: Chicago Area / Project-Based

Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site / Field-Based

Compensation: Competitive; based on experience and qualifications

Take Ownership of the Field and Lead Federal and Public Construction Projects from Mobilization Through Turnover

Industria, Inc. is a Chicago-area construction firm providing general contracting, design-build, civil, construction management, program and project management, and self-perform services. We partner closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver complex public and federal projects through planning, communication, hard work, and follow-through.

At Industria, every employee is integral to our success. We support balanced lives across work, family, and community while creating a positive environment that values both productivity and teamwork.

The Opportunity

Industria is seeking a hands-on Construction Superintendent to lead field operations, coordinate subcontractors, and maintain accountability for safety, quality, schedule, logistics, and documentation.

The right candidate understands federal construction requirements, communicates diplomatically, and keeps teams aligned from mobilization through closeout.

What You Will Do
  • Direct field construction across civil, force protection, electrical, carpentry, framing, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, finishes, and other project scopes.
  • Lead site operations from mobilization through commissioning, closeout, and owner handover.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, teaming partners, inspectors, and project staff to keep work safe, compliant, and on schedule.
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule with the project team; identify slippage, labor constraints, and long-lead material risks early.
  • Confirm work complies with contracts, plans, specifications, building codes, permits, inspections, and USACE quality and safety requirements.
  • Determine appropriate construction means and methods and forecast labor needs for self-performed work.
  • Review submittals for completeness and identify missing or conflicting information before submission to the architect or client.
  • Track field progress, labor hours, material quantities, RFIs, submittals, quality observations, safety activities, and schedule status.
  • Prepare accurate daily reports and other required safety, quality, and project documentation.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the owner's on-site representative.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical direction to field teams.
What You Bring
  • 5–10 years of construction field leadership experience, including projects for federal or local public agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of plans, specifications, construction materials, methods, sequencing, site logistics, and subcontractor coordination.
  • OSHA 30-Hour and EM 385 40-Hour training completed within the past five years.
  • Current or obtainable OSHA HAZWOPER, NAVFAC ECATTS, and CPR/First Aid credentials, as required by assigned projects.
  • Strong judgment, punctuality, diplomacy, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and work at remote project locations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel or temporarily relocate based on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related discipline; comparable relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Federal construction experience, particularly on USACE or NAVFAC projects.
Benefits
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on individual performance and company profitability.
  • Two weeks (10 days) of paid vacation annually, earned in accordance with company policy.
  • Group health coverage after 30 days, with Industria paying 75% of employee coverage and 25% of family coverage.
  • 401(k) with a 100% company match on employee contributions up to 3%.
  • 10 paid company holidays and three paid bereavement days annually.
