Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead major infrastructure initiatives in a remote-first role. You will plan, execute, and deliver sizable projects across civil, electrical, and mechanical domains, coordinating dispersed teams and external partners.

This role requires a proven track record in managing capital projects, proficiency with Primavera P6 / MS Project / Asta Powerproject, and the ability to handle budgets over R10 million.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) or related field.
• Masters degree or PMP certification strongly preferred.
• 9+ years of progressive project management experience on large infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Project Manager to lead significant infrastructure projects in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing capital projects, a deep understanding of infrastructure lifecycles, and the ability to lead dispersed teams effectively. As a remote-first role, this position offers the flexibility to work from any location within South Africa, emphasizing autonomy and results-driven performance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage detailed project plans for major infrastructure initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders, in a remote setting.
• Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) or a related field; a Masters degree or PMP certification is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in project management, with a strong focus on large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., construction, utilities, transportation).
• Demonstrated experience managing project budgets exceeding R10 million and complex multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to lead remote teams and manage projects effectively in a distributed environment.
• Expertise in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Asta Powerproject).
• Strong understanding of infrastructure development lifecycles, from planning and design to construction and commissioning.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote setting.
• Experience with contract management and negotiation with large contractors and suppliers.
• Must be adaptable and capable of occasional travel for essential site inspections.
