Job summary

Upwork is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead cross-functional initiatives across HR, People Operations, and business operations. The ideal candidate will independently manage projects from planning through implementation, ensuring discretion and operational excellence.

You will coordinate with HR, Technology, Finance, Legal, and Operations to maintain project plans, risks, and milestones, while developing scalable onboarding and training for project managers.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years progressive project management experience.
• PMP certification or comparable certification required.
• Proven ability to lead multiple concurrent projects independently.
• Experience in HR/People Ops or operations initiatives is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional projects from planning through closeout.
• Assess projects, identify gaps, and plan corrective actions.
• Define goals, milestones, timelines, responsibilities and success criteria.
• Develop onboarding/training processes for Project Managers.
• Coordinate policy review, standardization, and templates.
• Collaborate with HR, Technology, Finance, Legal, Operations and others.
• Facilitate meetings, document decisions, assign action items, and follow up.
