Curtis Contracting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager with a Civil Construction background to lead heavy highway and civil projects in the Earlysville/Charlottesville area.

This permanent role emphasizes safety, budget, schedule, and stakeholder relationships while delivering high-quality results. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive construction experience, strong leadership, and expertise in Primavera P6 and MS Project.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 10 years of progressive construction experience, preferably with a general contractor.
• Proven ability to manage projects from pre-construction to closeout.
• Strong negotiation skills and relationships with owners, subcontractors, and vendors.
• At least 5 years of supervisory leadership experience.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, and financial reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all project phases to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Develop, update, and manage project schedules including critical path.
• Lead project teams including field supervision, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Identify and mitigate risks; resolve issues to maintain continuity.
• Enforce safety, quality, and environmental compliance policies.
• Administer contracts and ensure compliance by all parties.
• Process change orders, RFIs, and submittals efficiently.
• Monitor budgets, cost tracking, and financial forecasts for profitability.
• Secure permits and ensure subcontractor insurance coverage.
• Procure materials and services; align with timelines.
• Mentor and develop team members; provide coaching and feedback.
• Conduct performance evaluations and set clear goals.
• Serve as liaison between clients, engineers, and vendors.
• Organize project meetings and document progress for leadership.
• Oversee final project stages and obtain approvals and sign-offs.
