The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Safety & Site Support, seeks a Senior Project Manager (Environmental). Under the direction of the Section Chief, with wide latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the selected candidate will manage environmental consultants and Project Managers to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include reviewing design documents, environmental site assessments, environmental reports, permits, safety and sampling plans, and remedial action plans. The candidate will conduct field visits, manage environmental reviews and projects, perform research and impact analyses, and develop remediation plans to ensure compliance with federal, NYS, and NYC regulations. Additional duties involve reviewing sampling protocols, interpreting analytical results, writing reports, and presenting on environmental compliance requirements.
1. For Assignment Level I (physical, biological, environmental sciences, and public health): A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field.
2. For Assignment Level II and above:
a. A doctorate in an appropriate field plus one year of responsible supervisory, administrative, or research experience; or
b. A master's degree plus three years of full-time research experience; or
c. Equivalent education and experience, with at least a master's degree and two years of relevant experience. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can substitute for some experience.
Note: Appointments are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
