Qualifications

  • Five years or more of directly related experience in working with English learners is required.
  • Experience writing Reading Language Arts curriculum in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to develop, organize, and conduct effective professional development training.
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and instructional resources related to bilingual and sheltered instruction.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and supports ongoing implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement structures for the department’s plan related to supplemental curriculum and instruction for EB students including supplemental materials and resources.
  • Plan and manage the implementation of supplemental dual language and ESL initiatives (e.g., tutoring programs, summer language enrichment programs, and EB student leadership programs).
  • Plan and execute key community/family projects, and events that support literacy and language opportunities for EB students.
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate ongoing, high-quality professional development (PD) for teachers, principals, and stakeholders around EB programming and meeting the needs of EB students including enhancing PD and deliverables with AI.
  • Coordinate coaching opportunities or professional learning communities centered on utilizing language proficiency data to differentiate supplemental classroom instruction and implement Content Based Language Instruction within supplemental instructional activities across all content areas.
  • Develop and oversee district-wide supplemental family literacy and language outreach programs designed to help parents of EB students become active partners in their children’s education.
  • Directly support special supplemental projects for Emergent Bilingual students, and ensures strong systems for communication, implementation, monitoring, and feedback, ensuring equity is at the forefront of the work for all EB students and ensuring opportunities for growth and success across all content areas.
  • Provides guidance and training on the implementation and effective use of AI within Dual Language and ESL programs to personalize language acquisition, differentiate instruction, and supplement curriculum and instruction for EB students.
  • Develop, create, and provide professional development and training for leveraging new adaptive technologies, and applying best practices across dual language and ESL programs.
  • Support the vision and mission of the District and the Dual Language ESL Department.
  • Work required evenings and Saturdays as needed to support supplemental Dual Language/ESL initiatives, family engagement activities, professional learning, and other EB-focused events.
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
