Job description

MMC Group is hiring for a Senior Project Manager, Mid-Market, for our client located in Richardson, TX!

The client is a growing manufacturer of high-end specialty packaging solutions focused on the retail and eCommerce markets. For over 40 years, relationships have permeated, partnerships have grown, and as a result, so has the team within. The client partners closely with mid-market, premium retail brands, delivering everything from customized retail boxes and shopping bags to cut-and-sew pouches, ribbon, and paper collateral.

We are seeking an adaptable, highly organized Project Manager (Mid to Senior level) for the custom packaging division. This role is specifically designed to manage and support mid-tier retail clients (such as Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, and Aura).

This is a highly hands-on, end-to-end project management role. You will not be passing tasks off to a support team; you will own the process from inception to delivery. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel to track and manage projects, as opposed to relying strictly on automated enterprise systems. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multi-component programs, and are prepared to navigate our peak busy season in October and November, this is the role for you.

(Please Note: We are specifically looking for candidates accustomed to mid-tier retail accounts. Candidates whose experience is exclusively with massive, enterprise-level big-box, categorized retailers, may not be the best fit due to differences in workflow, invoicing, and system reliance - must wear multiple hats for client support).

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level retail accounts, serving as a trusted, invaluable link between the sales force, the client, and the factory.
  • Take full, hands-on ownership of projects from start to finish without delegating to a support staff.
  • Process all associated documents manually and accurately in Excel, including cost analysis worksheets, order confirmations, proof approvals, purchase orders, packing lists, shipping documents, and profitability reports.
  • Review project scope and details with the sales team to articulate project-specific information accurately to domestic and international factories (APAC, EMEA, US, and Mexico).
  • Send quote requests to factories detailing project specifications, timeline requirements, and financial budgets/target price points.
  • Develop and manage expectations around factory samples, consulting with sales and senior management on standards for approval and appropriate tolerances.
  • Maintain pristine project status logs, timeline records, and physical/digital files.
  • Work cross-functionally with logistics, warehousing, accounting, production, offshore vendor relations, and art departments.
  • Utilize Biz Central for day-to-day operations (previous experience with Biz Central is a plus, but comprehensive training will be provided; SAP experience is no longer required).

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel (ability to manage complex tracking, numbers, and spreadsheets independently).
  • Hands-on mentality: ability to own the entire project lifecycle without a dedicated administrative support team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, particularly to manage the October/November peak busy season.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills for both vendor-facing and client-facing communication.
  • Knowledge of Google Drive, Sheets, and Docs.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging, Business, Merchandising, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience for a Mid-Level role; 6-8+ years of experience for a Senior-Level role in packaging development.
  • Bilingual in Mandarin, Vietnamese, or Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days in the Richardson, TX office, 2 days remote.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
