Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Construction Management with a PE (or 20+ years' experience without a degree) and strong DOT experience to lead Colorado projects. You will drive client relationships, business development, and civil department growth while mentoring junior staff.

The role collaborates with the civil construction management team, overseeing scopes, schedules, costs, and execution plans with leadership support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• PE license preferred; 12+ years with DOT and construction management, or 20+ years without degree/PE.
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to travel and manage multiple projects with deadlines.
• Experience with project scheduling and client relationship development.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic project management leadership for projects of varying size and complexity.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and participate in proposal development.
• Responsible for overall management of scopes, schedules, and costs.
• Lead a collaborative project team to meet project needs.
• Mentor staff and coordinate with Technical Manager(s) for training.
• Lead meetings with clients and project staff; update stakeholders on status.
• Develop, update, and manage project execution plans.
• Coordinate risk assessment and mitigation planning.

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Construction Management with a PE (or non-degree with 20+ years' experience) and strong DOT experience to lead construction projects across Colorado. This role is critical in developing client relationships, driving business development, and contributing to the growth of our Civil Department. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience managing DOT projects and possess exceptional leadership skills to navigate complex challenges.

This position will work closely with the civil construction management team and leadership while mentoring junior staff.

What You'll Do

• Provide strategic project management leadership for projects of varying size and complexity
• Develop and maintain client relationships and participate in proposal development
• Responsible for the overall management and execution of the projects' scopes, schedules, and costs
• Manage and lead a collaborative project team to ensure each project's needs are being met
• Collaborate with Technical Manager(s) regarding mentoring, training, and skill sets
• Work with project staff and partners to lead meetings between the project team and clients
• Develop, update, and manage the project execution plans
• Coordinate communication and provide status updates to stakeholders as required
• Assess project risk and proactively develop mitigation plans
• Proactively manage project requests for information and action items
• Work collaboratively with the Project Controls team to ensure project schedules and costs are managed and tracked to plan
• Responsible for coordinating projects through all internal and external processes
• Ensure availability or seek out adequate resources to support the projects
• Proficient in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting the consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations to support project scope, schedule, and cost objectives
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Demonstrates excellent leadership, verbal/written communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills

What We Expect from You

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a relevant field preferred
• Professional Engineering licensure preferred
• PMP Certification preferred
• Project schedule management experience preferred
• 12+ years of experience with a PE license, DOT, and construction management experience, OR 20+ years of experience without a degree or PE license, DOT, or construction management experience preferred
• Demonstrate the ability to independently organize work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities
• Demonstrated experience with successful project delivery
• Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills
• Must be able to prepare clear and concise status updates and reports as required
• Superior interpersonal and organizational skills
• A commitment to quality and integrity
• Must be willing to travel
• Pass pre-employment substance abuse screening and background check

Compensation

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $130,400-$176,500. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job-specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role.
