  • Prioritize work tasks to meet scheduled delivery dates.
  • Self‑motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Ulteig is a 100% employee‑owned company with ESOP contribution for eligible employees after the first year of service.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead roadway design execution for transportation projects, coordinating closely with project managers, clients, and multi‑discipline teams.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Review designs for high quality, support engineers through challenging problem‑solving, and drive standards across the department.
  • Support team and department initiatives focused on improving design workflows, tools, and delivery efficiency.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their technical needs and identify the best feasible solutions.
  • Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks, supporting other civil design workflows as necessary.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to evaluate design options and recommend practical, cost‑effective solutions.
  • Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout the development, design, and construction phases.
  • Develop comprehensive plans, specifications, and observation reports that are accurate and in accordance with sound engineering practices.
  • Recommend alterations to development criteria and design features to improve quality and project outcomes.
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk‑management considerations.
  • Lead QA/QC efforts for roadway design tasks to ensure accurate, complete, and review‑ready submittals.
  • Prepare detailed reports and correspondence concerning the direction and progress of assigned projects.
  • Collaborate closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
  • Support marketing, sales, and business development activities within the assigned market.
What We Expect from You
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program or equivalent is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; Colorado licensure preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe. NCEES Council Record is a plus.
  • 6–10+ years of civil engineering experience preferred, including 4–5+ years in roadway design.
  • Demonstrated experience leading roadway design tasks and contributing to multi‑discipline project delivery.
  • Lead roadway design efforts within project teams; assign work, coordinate tasks, and ensure quality and accountability.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff through design reviews, day‑to‑day guidance, and task‑level coaching.
  • Serve as roadway design lead for PS&E deliverables, responsible for quality, completeness, and coordination under the direction of project leadership.
  • Actively contribute to design production, including model development, plan preparation, and quantity development.
  • Strong in geometric design, grading, phasing, and constructability.
  • Prepare and review alignments, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Strong proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer, including corridor modeling, plan production, and supporting team production workflows.
  • Experience delivering CDOT projects; understands standards, specifications, and workflows.

  • Proactively identify risks (ROW, utilities, scope gaps) and drive resolution.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to clients and teams.
  • Demonstrate readiness to support project management responsibilities, including scope development, schedule coordination, and client interaction.
  • Participate in client coordination and support proposals/business development.
  • Experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
