UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Project Manager- Construction opportunity for our customer in Aiken, SC to support the Savannah River Site.

DUTIES

  1. Manage all aspects of construction projects and maintenance activities on multiple complex multi-million dollar projects critical to SRS operations.
  2. Responsible for a variety of less significant projects managed by less qualified project managers from conceptual design to completion with primary responsibility for safety, quality, schedule and cost.
  3. Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed. Obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task.
  4. Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
  5. Responsible for managing the physical construction of all assigned projects and assigned maintenance orders ensuring that each job is completed safely, within cost and schedule requirements.
  6. Obtain and assign exempt personnel to each job, or rely on the technical department manager (e.g., project controls, supervision, etc.) to identify personnel for assignments, optimize manpower, and provide leadership by setting and maintaining goals, priorities, standards of performance and the philosophies of construction management.
  7. Ensure that construction efficiency is optimized by providing construction input and involvement in projects throughout the conceptual design phases and design, construction turnover and the completion phases of each project.
  8. Assign and manage personnel to serve on project teams and direct review boards to develop construction strategies, design reviews, cost and schedule guidance and other input opportunities as the project progresses.
  9. Establish and control costs, schedule, and technical baselines and provide effective management of project staff and matrix personnel to control baselines.
  10. Manage professional and nonexempt employees to include career development, motivation, performance review, and salary administration.
  11. Initiate and frequently deliver concise and accurate oral and written presentations to internal and external customers regarding construction status, changes and new approaches, including complex technical, organizational and financial issues.
  12. Conduct highly complex analysis of problems involving construction activities.
  13. Develop new and innovative alternative action strategies enabling the early achievement of milestones.
  14. Perform risk analyses and provide decision authority for defining and approving corrective actions and establishing priorities.

Work Hours: A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80’s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education & Experience/Skills: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 15 - 17 years of practical experience in construction. In-depth knowledge of construction, cost and scheduling, subcontract administration and the ability to develop or evaluate construction strategies and techniques. An associate's degree and 17 - 19 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 19 - 21 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A highly comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project management and project planning at the tactical level would be ideal, along with a knowledge of operations, maintenance, or project startup and construction management and construction subcontracts.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
  • A minimum of (7) years of experience managing engineering for construction projects. This should include at least (2) years of experience on projects requiring NQA-1 pedigree.
  • A minimum of (7) years of experience managing construction execution. This should include at least (2) years of experience on projects requiring NQA-1 pedigree.
  • A minimum of (3) years of experience managing both construction execution and engineering functions on a construction project.
