Job summary

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a 6-10 project portfolio within the Capital Program, totaling about $100 million+. The role requires coordinating architecture, engineering, and construction teams through all design phases and regulatory approvals.

Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and ensuring quality across multiple workstreams, with NYC residency required within 180 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban planning, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in architecture, construction, real estate development, owner's representation, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from planning through completion.
  • New York City residency is required within 180 days of hire.
  • Preferably working towards professional registration (PE, RA, RLA, AICP, CUD, CCM, PMP).

  • Oversee project planning and predevelopment activities, including existing conditions assessments, programming, feasibility studies, cost estimating, and budgeting.
  • Manage the design process from schematic design through construction documentation, including coordination of required regulatory submissions and approvals.
  • Oversee bidding, construction, and project close-out activities, ensuring continuity and coordination across each project phase.
  • Manage multiple workstreams and deliverables, ensuring work is completed in accordance with established quality standards, expectations, and deadlines.
  • Execute a risk-based management approach to project delivery which includes identifying, forecasting, and appropriately mitigating project risk.
  • Coordinate project teams, providing direction and aligning team members toward established project goals and outcomes.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant industry practices, trends, and developments in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning through ongoing professional development and continuing education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION OVERVIEW :

NYCEDC's Capital Program is responsible for channeling New York City's capital budget investments into design and construction projects that advance the City's economic development. The Capital Program's staff consists of design and construction professionals; administrative staff; and project support analysts who work together to provide physical infrastructure, facilities, and amenities. We work to strengthen the City's competitive position through the implementation of a wide variety of municipal construction projects.

A Senior Project Manager (SPM) in the Capital Program Department (CAP) will be responsible for the implementation of a design and construction portfolio of 6-10 active capital projects with a total project value of approximately $100 million+.

QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree required in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban planning, or related field
  • Preferably working towards professional registration (PE, RA, RLA, AICP, CUD, CCM. PMP)
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in architecture, construction, real estate development, owner's representation, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from planning through completion
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency and experience with scheduling software preferred
  • New York City residency is required within 180 days of hire
Salary Range

$90,000 - $92,000 USD
