New York City Economic Development Corporation is seeking a Project Director, AM Design and Construction, to lead design and construction efforts for the NYC Groceries initiative and related projects. You will work with AMDC leadership, NYC Groceries teams, consultants, and partners to ensure projects meet policy goals, budgets, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or related fields.
• Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Analytical thinker with a proven ability to anticipate and troubleshoot project challenges and develop recommended solutions.
• Experience with NYC project delivery and grocery store design/construction preferred.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communicator.
• Knowledge of budgeting and cost analysis for design and construction projects.
• Experience with construction management software and scheduling software preferred.
• Actively pursuing professional registration (PE, RA, AICP, PMP, etc.) preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• NYC residency is required within180 daysof hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital plans and project budgets across assigned portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fiscal responsibility.
• Oversee all development phases, including procurement of architecture, engineering, and construction teams, conducting thorough existing conditions assessments, feasibility studies, budgeting, and securing regulatory approvals.
• Maintain scope, cost, and schedule controls; ensuring accurate project reporting and documentation throughout the lifecycle.
• Manage project quality, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet NYCEDC standards.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks using proactive, risk-based management approach.
• Collaborate across NYC Groceries teams to ensure projects align with current policies and operational and maintenance considerations.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, construction managers, governmental agencies, and community organizations.
• Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, tailoring messaging to diverse audiences.

JoinNYCEDC's Asset Management Design & Construction (AMDC) team and help deliver capital projects that improve and preserve New York City's public assets.TheAMDC team manages the planning, design, and construction of a diverse portfolio across all five broughs, including industrial and commercial facilities, waterfront properties, cruise terminals, and public markets. Working with a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, planners, and construction professionals,you'llhelpmanage delivery ofprojects that support the city's infrastructure and economic growth.

Position Overview: The Project Director will lead and support the full lifecycle of design and construction projects related to the NY C Groceries initiative and other projects as assigned . The Project Director will work closely with the AMDC leadership, NYC Groceries leadership, internal NYCEDC departments, external partners, consultants, governmental agencies, operators, and community stakeholders to ensure NYC Groceries and related projects are planned, procured, designed, and delivered in alignment with organizational goals, policy objectives, budget requirements, and project schedules. The Project Director will support execution of the NYCGroceriesbrandand aesthetic s , ensuringconsistentimplementation across all stores.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Execution/Design & Construction :
