Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston seeks an experienced leader to drive enterprise-wide programs in Technology, Data & Innovation. You will oversee cross-functional teams, manage scope, schedule and budget, and partner with executives to deliver ambitious transformation projects that improve patient care and operational excellence.

Required: 6 years PM experience with 5 years in application and/or infrastructure services, plus PMP certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred in CS/SE/MIS related field.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide programs with technology, data or innovation solutions.

In the Technology, Data & Innovation (TDI) department, you’ll lead enterprise-wide, high-impact projects that modernize infrastructure and optimize business operations. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional programs and projects with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Motivate and guide project teams toward common goals.
  • Coach and mentor TDI Project Managers and contract PM resources.
  • Engage stakeholders to manage expectations and demonstrate project value.
  • Collaborate with sponsors and key team members to ensure requirements are captured accurately.
Domain Expertise
  • Apply best practices and methodologies for portfolio, resource, and project management.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and status reports.
  • Ensure timely updates in PMO platforms and customer approvals for system readiness.
  • Oversee resource allocation and financial management to keep projects within budget.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate technical requirements, training plans, and transition to operations.
Organizational Efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and elevate issues promptly.
  • Provide regular updates and ensure projects stay on schedule, within scope and budget.
  • Assess challenges, propose solutions, and drive process improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Adapt to changing environments and stakeholder needs.
Other Duties
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support departmental goals.
EDUCATION
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Master's Degree Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Healthcare Administration or related field.
Work Experience
  • Required: 6 years Experience to include five years in project management and five years in application and/or infrastructure services. or
  • Required: 4 years Experience is required to include three years in project management and three years in application and/or infrastructure services with preferred degree.
  • May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred

Business and infrastructure PM experience, renovation/construction technology background, 6+ years of experience leading cross-functional, large-scale and high-complex programs and/or projects that were implemented enterprise-wide, 5+ years of experience with implementing technology, data and/or innovation solutions, and 5+ years of experience creating and delivering presentations for Executive Leadership. Experience with ServiceNow.

Work Schedule

This position has a hybrid schedule (onsite and remote). Prefer local candidates in the Houston area.

  • Certified PMI - Project Management Professional (PMP)
