Project Manager, Global Finance Services Transition
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our client company to lead and coordinate a global transition of Tax and Accounting services from an incumbent external service provider to a new service provider.
Partnering closely with Accounting and Tax leadership, this role will lead the end-to-end planning and execution of the transition, coordinating internal stakeholders, the incumbent provider, the incoming provider, and regional teams. The Project Manager will establish and maintain an integrated transition plan, manage entity-level timelines and dependencies, coordinate knowledge transfer, monitor readiness, and ensure each entity transitions in a controlled and structured manner.
The role will primarily focus on Accounting and Tax, with coordination across Treasury and other Finance functions where processes, systems, services, or operational dependencies overlap. Success will require strong project management discipline, experience leading complex vendor transitions, and the ability to establish structure, drive accountability, and maintain momentum across a global, cross-functional initiative.
This is a hands‑on leadership role for an independent, results-oriented project manager who can bring multiple internal and external parties together around a common plan, proactively identify and resolve issues, facilitate critical decisions, and diplomatically hold stakeholders accountable for commitments and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of the global transition of Tax and Accounting services from the incumbent provider to the incoming service provider.
- Develop and maintain an integrated transition roadmap, including project plans, timelines, milestones, entity-level sequencing, dependencies, deliverables, and readiness criteria.
- Coordinate transition activities across Accounting, Tax, Treasury, regional Finance teams, internal stakeholders, and external service providers.
- Manage entity-by-entity transition activities from initial planning and knowledge transfer through testing, cutover, go-live, and post-transition stabilization.
- Establish and maintain effective project governance, including regular status meetings, steering committee updates, RAID logs, action‑item tracking, decision logs, and escalation processes.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, resource constraints, and timeline conflicts; develop mitigation strategies and drive resolution.
- Facilitate working sessions across internal teams and external providers to align on scope, roles and responsibilities, deliverables, expectations, and timelines.
- Coordinate knowledge‑transfer activities between the incumbent provider, internal teams, and the incoming provider, ensuring critical process knowledge and documentation are effectively transferred.
- Monitor transition readiness and ensure appropriate process documentation, training, controls, testing, and operational support arrangements are in place before go‑live.
- Coordinate testing, validation, business acceptance, stakeholder sign‑off, and cutover activities to support successful service transitions.
- Manage issues, escalations, and key decision points, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate visibility and engagement from leadership.
- Track external provider performance against agreed project commitments, milestones, deliverables, timelines, and expected outcomes.
- Prepare executive‑level communications, project dashboards, status reports, and leadership presentations that provide clear visibility into progress, risks, decisions, and required actions.
- Monitor post‑transition stabilization, drive resolution of outstanding issues, and facilitate the formal handoff of transitioned services to steady‑state operational teams.
- Partner with Finance leadership to maintain alignment on transition objectives, priorities, resource requirements, and business expectations throughout the engagement.
- Build effective working relationships and drive collaboration across global teams, time zones, cultures, and functional areas.
