Are you a strategic project manager with experience in high-voltage (HV) equipment and turnkey substation projects? Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Project Manager to lead the execution of complex utility-scale substation orders—from planning through closeout. In this highly visible role, you’ll be the customer’s main point of contact while driving internal coordination across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and subcontractors.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Full Lifecycle Project Execution: Manage substation projects from planning and kickoff through execution and closeout, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Financial Planning & Budget Control: Develop, manage, and forecast detailed project budgets. Monitor costs, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to keep projects financially on track.
  • Customer Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, building strong relationships and ensuring all contractual commitments are met.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams: Align engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution of complex project scopes.
  • Site and Vendor Management: Oversee site activities, including subcontracted civil and erection work. Negotiate price, delivery, and terms with major vendors.
  • Project Monitoring & Reporting: Track progress, manage budgets, forecast costs, and resolve issues proactively. Prepare regular status updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Documentation & Closeout: Manage customer correspondence, shipping documents, invoicing, and warranty claims. Ensure projects are closed out cleanly and documentation is complete.
  • Risk Management & Issue Resolution: Identify potential project risks and mitigation strategies. Track and resolve issues quickly while escalating as needed to keep projects on course.
  • Schedule Coordination: Work closely with department schedulers to maintain accurate project timelines
  • Safety & Insurance Oversight: Handle safety issues and manage any insurance claims related to your assigned projects.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • 8+ years of project management experience within the electrical power industry, specifically in the utility sector
  • In-depth knowledge of high-voltage equipment (>69kV) and substation systems
  • PMP Certification strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Primavera or equivalent scheduling software
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale, high-complexity projects simultaneously

What’s in It for You?

  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: MEPPI pays 90% of the cost for medical, dental, and vision plans—ensuring peace of mind for you and your family.
  • Retirement Plans: Prepare for the future with a 401(k) plan that includes up to 4% company match.
  • Generous Paid Time Off: Earn vacation after 90 days, plus 12 paid holidays annually.
  • Professional Development: Advance your career through ongoing training and educational assistance programs.
