Position: Senior Project Manager
About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading, rapidly growing AI technology company undertaking the development of a large-scale data center campus in the Austin, Texas market.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the Owner’s Representative team and provide day-to-day project leadership throughout the development and delivery of this highly complex, mission-critical facility.
This is a high-visibility opportunity for a seasoned project management professional who has experience delivering large-scale data centers, mission-critical facilities, semiconductor facilities, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex capital projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Owner, design consultants, architects, engineers, general contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior representative of the Owner throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, procurement, design coordination, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, general contractors, specialty contractors, equipment vendors, and other consultants.
- Establish and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, reporting processes, and governance procedures.
- Review and challenge project schedules, cost plans, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
- Identify schedule, cost, design, procurement, and construction risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Lead regular project meetings and drive accountability across project stakeholders.
- Monitor construction progress against approved milestones and critical-path activities.
- Support procurement and long-lead equipment strategy, including coordination of mission-critical infrastructure and electrical/mechanical systems.
- Partner with commissioning teams to support integrated testing, turnover, and operational readiness.
- Provide senior-level reporting to Owner leadership regarding project status, risks, decisions, and key milestones.
- Ensure project execution aligns with applicable safety, quality, regulatory, contractual, and technical requirements.
- Assist with contractor selection, bid evaluations, contract administration, and commercial negotiations.
- Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and execution discipline.
- Develop strong working relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive project management experience, preferably within data centers or other mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital construction projects, ideally with project values of $100M+.
- Experience working in an Owner’s Representative, developer, general contractor, construction management, or equivalent project leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction, design management, scheduling, cost control, procurement, and commissioning.
- Experience with mission-critical infrastructure, including familiarity with medium/high-voltage electrical systems, generators, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, controls, and critical power distribution.
- Ability to understand and coordinate complex architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, including cost forecasting, schedule management, change management, and risk management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline preferred.
- PMP, PE, CCM, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
