Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex public works construction projects in San Jose, CA. You will oversee underground wet utilities, water distribution, sewer systems, storm drain improvements, pump stations, and related facilities across Northern California.

  • 10+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager managing public works construction projects.
  • Experience managing underground wet utility projects and water infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of public agency contracting procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple public works construction projects from award through completion.
  • Oversee project financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are achieved.
  • Lead project teams of PMs, engineers, superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Serve as primary contact for owners, municipalities, utility agencies, engineers, and consultants.
  • Review contracts, specifications, plans, and change orders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and develop solutions to construction challenges.
  • Negotiate subcontract agreements and manage subcontractor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and contractual requirements.
  • Participate in pursuits, preconstruction planning, and growth initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop junior project management staff.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager managing public works construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing underground wet utility projects, including water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure, and/or water or wastewater treatment plant construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of public agency contracting procedures, specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Experience managing project budgets ranging from several million dollars to large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, project controls, scheduling, cost management, and contract administration.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, and other public agencies throughout California.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or PE are a plus.
