Job summary

J.F. Brennan Company, Inc. is seeking a senior project manager to oversee major marine and heavy civil infrastructure programs.

You will lead planning, execution of deep foundation systems, pile driving, cofferdams, docks, rail infrastructure, and bridge work, while maintaining financial accountability and driving safety and quality. The role requires 10+ years in marine/heavy civil projects, strong leadership, and expert scheduling and cost-control capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing marine or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience on projects involving: Bridge substructures and superstructures; Dam construction or rehabilitation; Dock and barge terminal facilities; Railroad infrastructure and rail bridge work; Deep foundation systems and pile-supported structures.
  • Strong working knowledge of marine construction methods and work performed from floating platforms.
  • Experience managing public infrastructure contracts with complex regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of project management control systems including scheduling (Primavera P6 or MS Project), cost control, procurement, and value engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams in technically challenging marine environments.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and executive-level reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for multiple marine and heavy civil infrastructure projects.

  • Maintain full financial accountability for assigned projects, including cost control, forecasting, productivity tracking, and margin protection.
  • Identify cost risks and implement corrective strategies to align with budgets and schedules.
  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules to support successful execution.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and stakeholders to keep schedules accurate.
  • Lead contract administration including change management, claims mitigation, and negotiations with owners and subcontractors.
  • Review and approve submittals, engineered lift plans, marine work plans, and critical path schedules.
  • Mentor and develop project management staff.
  • Build relationships with public and private owners including DOTs, USACE, PUDs, rail and port authorities.
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities and assisting with pursuits, estimating and proposals.
  • Collaborate on bid strategy, constructability reviews, pricing risk evaluation, and pursuit planning.
  • Travel to active job sites up to 80% as required.

Job description

  • Maintain full financial accountability for assigned projects, including cost control, forecasting, productivity tracking, and margin protection to ensure projects meet or exceed financial performance targets
  • Proactively identify cost risks and implement corrective strategies to keep projects aligned with approved budgets and schedules
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules to support successful project execution.
  • Capability to collaborate with project managers, field teams, and stakeholders to ensure schedules remain accurate and aligned with project objectives.
  • Lead contract administration including change management, claims mitigation, and negotiations with owners and subcontractors
  • Review and approve submittals, engineered lift plans, marine work plans, and critical path schedules
  • Mentor and develop project management staff

Compensation typical ranges from $101,000 to $180,000 depending on experience, with additional opportunities for bonuses and benefits.
